Calcutta is known for its creative arts and artistic renditions. Currently, the cafes in Kolkata, is
not just a place to enjoy the best platters and beverages, but also a hub of music, comedy and
other art performances. Café Ohana, a cute and comfy café at New Bikramgarh witnessed a
fun weekend of comedy and music.
Aparsi Das, owner of Café Ohana, loves comedy and music. As a result, she designed the café
in a way to present interesting art performances. Café Ohana joined hands with Happy Fools,
a newly formed comedy circle, by Shweta Dey and hosts bi-monthly open mic.
Last weekend was all about comedy and music at Café Ohana. On 17th June, Friday, Happy
Fools presented their first show in Café Ohana named “Comedy Faceoff”. It was a battle of
wits and punchlines between city comics Anyaman Majumdar, Abhinav Tewary, Surya and
Rohit Mishra. There was a laughter umpire who kept score and announced the winner.
On 18th June, Saturday, Happy Fools organized its monthly open mic, that got hosted by Sunil
Kumar Mandal, with young and experienced city comics presenting their funny sets to the
audience. The mic presented acts by Sonal, Jayati, Vishal, Arvind, Vinayak and Shweta. The
mic was attended by the local audience who loved the performances and have shown interest
to attend the forthcoming open-mics.
Sunday was a musical evening at Café Ohana featuring busking artist Anik. The artist sang
some of the popular Bengali numbers on public demand such as “Ekhon onek raat”, “Bojhena
shey bojhena”, “Shey prothom prem amar nilanjana” along with some of his originals. The
July stand-up comedy open mic dates at Café Ohana are 9th and 23rd July. There will be other
interesting programs too in the line-up
